Frequently asked questions
The things people ask before buying, and the ones they ask in week two. Anything missing? Send it over.
A Google Sheets file: formulas, validation rules, charts and an Apps Script add-on that provides the sidebar app. You copy it into your own Drive and it becomes your document. There is no separate application to install.
No. MonetrixOS depends on Google Sheets features — Apps Script sidebars, Google Finance rates and Sheets-specific formulas. You can export your data to Excel at any time, but the live system needs Sheets.
No. Day to day you fill in dropdowns and type amounts — the same effort as any budgeting app. Knowing formulas is only useful if you want to extend the template, and the calculation tabs are documented if you do.
English, French, Arabic and Spanish. The setting changes sheet labels, sidebar text and chart titles; Arabic also switches the sidebar to a right-to-left layout. Your own descriptions and categories stay exactly as you typed them.
No. Your copy lives in your Google Drive under your account. The script runs inside your document and has no channel back to us. We could not read your balances if we wanted to — we have no access to the file.
No, deliberately. There are no bank credentials to hand over and no aggregator in the middle. You enter transactions yourself or import a CSV export from your bank.
Google requires explicit consent before any Apps Script runs. MonetrixOS asks for access to the current spreadsheet and permission to show a sidebar — the minimum the features need. It requests no access to your other files, Gmail or contacts.
Export to Excel, CSV or PDF from the File menu. Your data is plain rows in a spreadsheet — there is no proprietary format and nothing to unlock. The file stays in your Drive whether or not you ever talk to us again.
Each account has its own currency and holds its real balance. Rates come from Google Finance and the rate in force on each transaction date is stored with the row, so historical months stay stable. The dashboard converts everything into the base currency you choose.
There is a sidebar app that runs inside the Google Sheets mobile app — Home, Ledger, Movements and More. It is built for adding a transaction in about ten seconds. It is not a separate App Store download.
Yes. Append rows to the Categories tab and dropdowns update everywhere. For charts, build on a new tab that reads from the Reports tables — that way an update to the template never overwrites your work.
Tested comfortably to around 20,000 rows, which is roughly ten years of ordinary household spending. Beyond that, archive older years to a second file — the template includes an archive helper.
One-time. There is no subscription and no renewal — you pay once and the sheet is yours, including every future update.
Thirty days, no questions asked. Email us and we refund in full. You keep any data you entered, because the file is in your Drive, not ours.
No. Updates are included for life on the one-time licence. We email a migration link when a new version lands, along with instructions for carrying your existing data across.
Yes — a VAT invoice is issued automatically after purchase. If you need a company name or tax number added, reply to the receipt and we will reissue it.
Start with the documentation, which covers each module and the common breakages. If that does not resolve it, email support — one business day for Personal, same day for Household.
It is nearly always one of three things: a transfer entered as two separate transactions, a credit-card balance entered as positive, or a missing opening balance. The Balance check block on the Accounts tab identifies which. Full detail in Troubleshooting.
Please do. Most of what shipped in the last two versions — loans, Arabic support, rollover budgets — came from customer requests. Send it through the contact form and pick “Feature request”.
